About Morgan's Shoes
Originally called "Youthful Shoes", what became Morgan's Shoes opened in 1961 on State Street in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. A year later in 1962 the store moved to its current location at Hilldale Shopping Center. We were one of the original tenants of the then brand new Hilldale Mall and we are in the same location today. At that time we sold only children's shoes, but soon the inventory was expanded to include adult shoes. Ken Morgan bought "Youthful Shoes" from his partners in 1983 and renamed it "Morgan's Shoes."
Getting back to the roots of the business, in 1997 Ken opened Morgan's Stride Rite, a separate store devoted to children shoes. Later that same year, Ken added a New Balance concept store, New Balance Madison, specializing in athletic footwear. Both of these stores require specially trained staff to meet the high performance needs of athletes and special needs of children, who often can't tell you if a shoe fits or if it is comfortable.
Morgan's Shoes is proud to have six full-time Board Certified Pedorthists on staff. Board Certified Pedorthists must complete extensive studies in anatomy, pathology, bio-mechanics, neuromuscular dysfunction, gait analysis techniques, orthotic design, fabrication, patient and practice management, and successfully participate in at least 1000 hours of clinical internship. They must also pass a comprehensive exam and participate in ongoing training and recertification. Whether the challenge is a diabetic foot, a post-polio foot, trauma in the lower extremity, or neuromuscular dysfunction, you may rest assured in knowing our pedorthic professionals will provide the best possible service. Our pedorthists work our store hours, including days, nights, and weekends, to make it as convenient as possible for you to receive the best possible care.
